Olá, my name is Sofia de Mello, a 16 year-old student from Videira, southern Brazil, attending the Instituto Federal Catarinense in the Secondary School integrated with the Technical Course in Computer Science. As I studied physics on my own, something gradually became clear to me, which´s the fact that the entire universe can be described numerically. There are rules, elegant and precise, connecting matter, energy, and motion — and through mathematics, you can look at anything in the world and begin to truly understand it. I find that beautiful in a way that is difficult to put into words. This past year I qualified for the International Selection rounds of the Brazilian Astronomy Olympiad, reached the Semi-Final of the International Physics Competition, and began a research project on exoplanets. But what drives me most is the desire to share this perspective. I want the people around me to see physics the way I see it: not as a difficult subject, but as a key to reading the world.
